How to Slow Down in a Mad-Dash World
Living with a chronic illness for over 7 years has forced me to drastically alter my way of life.
Whether I’ve wanted to or not, I’ve had to learn how to slow down and live in alignment with my body’s needs while still functioning in a modern, technology-driven world.
It hasn’t been easy figuring out HOW to actually do this in a practical, long-lasting way, but I have.
The secret? Learning how to say ‘no’ to certain things, so I can say ‘yes’ to others.
This has been no small feat for a self-professed people-pleaser, but I’m now at the point where I can comfortably prioritize my needs without feeling guilty that I’m letting down others.
This frees me up to include the following 3 things into my life on an ongoing basis:
- Permission to move at a slower pace than most of society
- Moments of intentional connection with the nature outside my door using my five senses, and
- Letting my child-like sense of wonder and curiosity lead the way
It almost sounds too simple, but it’s true; these small steps lead to inner and outer calm.
